Description
This evergreen shrub typically grows over time to 5-8’ tall and to 4’ wide and has fragrant, rose-red, single flowers (3-4” diameter). It blooms in spring (April) when grown outdoors in cold winter climates, hence the cultivar name. ‘Spring’s Promise’ has unusually good winter hardiness. It is now one of the few cultivars of C. japonica currently recommended for growing outdoors year-round in USDA Zone 6 (some say 6b).
