Eastern State is a nonprofit dedicated to preservation, interpretation, and public programs that will move visitors to engage in dialogue and deepen the national conversation about criminal justice. During 2026, the site is celebrating with “A Time For Liberty," a series of inclusive programs exploring liberty and justice. Eastern State preserves America’s first penitentiary, advancing public understanding of the criminal justice system and its impact on the lives of those affected by it, to inspire a more just future.
