Description

Alex Komodore is a Denver-based classical guitarist and Full Professor of Music at Metropolitan State University of Denver-where he has directed the guitar Department for over 40 years. Several of Komodore’s students have recently won top prizes in many prominent International Guitar Competitions including: The Guitar Foundation of America Youth competitions, Domaine Forget de Charlevoix, Philadelphia and Louisville guitar competitions , the Koblenz International Guitar Festival, and most recently, the Francisco Tarrega Competition. Komodore has also judged in many Guitar Festivals and Competitions, including the Portland International Guitar Competition, the Denver International Guitar Competition, the Greater Victoria Performing Arts Festival, and the Guitar Foundation of America International Guitar Competitions. Komodore began his studies of the classical guitar at the age of 8 in his native New York City, performing in New York City’s Town Hall at the age of 11, The United Nations at 19, and was first Prize Winner of the 1985 MTNA Collegiate Artist Competition.

Successful bidders at auction night can pick up their auction items in person at Metropolitan State University's King Center the evening of June 26, 2026 after the live auction concludes or on June 27, 2026 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the GFA registration desk. 
If you are not in attendance at GFA, the items will be shipped to you for a shipping fee. You will receive an email or text to make arrangements--keep an eye on your emails (including spam/junk)!
