Marco, one the owners, will greet you with a smile and he'll want to hear what's going on at our school! Breakfast, lunch or dinner - Lou's has you covered. Need a smoothie or some soup? Stop by one of Soup Peddler's many locations. It all started with a biscuit and a dream… Well, really it all started with a friendship. In 2008, Brian Batch came to work as a barista at Thunderbird, a coffee shop owned by Ryan McElroy. The two became fast friends and built the coffee business together. Fast forward 8 years, they were looking for a new challenge. Inspired by nearly a decade of traveling together and a friendship they struck up with a mysterious Master Biscuit Whisperer, they started working on the idea that became Bird Bird Biscuit. Believing that the only way to build something great is to do the work, they labored for 2 years perfecting each recipe on the menu. Hundreds of batches to get to the best possible experience for their guests. In June 2018, they finally opened the doors to Bird Bird Biscuit, which were nearly blown off by the demand from guests hungering for great chicken and biscuits. Dolce Neve is a local, family owned artisanal gelateria bringing the quintessential gelato experience to Texas. They've been making small-batch gelato by hand with local and premium ingredients since 2014. At Lou’s, early risers can enjoy Intelligentsia Coffee, breakfast tacos, donuts and pastries from Swedish Hill. For lunch & dinner, in-house rotisserie is added to the all day offerings, including beef, chicken, and cauliflower, served by the plate or family-style with homemade dipping sauces. Salads, sandwiches and sides round out the offerings, sticky Brussels sprouts and cole slaw, with frozen custard topped with salted caramel, sour cherries, pistachio brittle or warm chocolate mocha for dessert. Lou's Eastside is a laid back, no-frills, all day spot offering an expansive back patio with ping pong and live music. Their drink menu includes horchata and agua fresca along with a selection of wine, beer and refreshing non-alcoholic drinks. It all started with an idea and a bicycle. Before Austin became the hustle & bustle city it is today, David Ansel established The Soup Peddler out of a humble home tucked away in the funky Bouldin Creek neighborhood where he would craft unique concoctions of handmade soup from scratch. Riding around South Austin, David would deliver these soups himself to friends and neighbors on his bike, "Old Yellow". Interest for David's soups quickly grew with rapid expansion, and thus, The Soup Peddler was born. Although the business ran for years as strictly a delivery service (winning multiple awards for it's efficiency), The Soup Peddler eventually built a brick & mortar in 2010 to allow their customers, cleverly deemed "soupies," to come to them for their soup needs. Their menu has grown to encompass healthy smoothies & juices as well.
