White Wine Basket

3 bottles of 2023 Elisa Christopher Wines Sparkling Chardonnay This sparkling Chardonnay hails from Dell Valley Vineyards in far West Texas. Grown at 4,000 ft of elevation, this wine was fermented in barrel then aged 24 months on lees. The Chardonnay was harvested the end of July 2023. A heat-driven harvest with early hot temperature spikes followed by more rain than usual, additional heat and a final temperature drop allowing the fruit to fully develop. In this wine, aromas of sea spray, white peach and almond seem to come in puffs. The perfume rolls forth in a fog of flaky croissant, cereal, cream, and a whiff of wilting lilies. Although light-bodied, it has a billowy texture contrasted with crisp flavors of melon and mandarin pith, and a kiss of sweetness that will integrate over time and bolster the wine’s pleasantly drifting nature. A delicately aged Prosciutto di Parma would pair perfectly along with other cured meats, creamed chicken or pot pie, soft-ripened cheese, a classic spinach quiche, or simple sponge cake.
