Description
Set of Three (3) Highly Rated Wines from Winebow Fine Wines + Spirits.
One (1) Bottle of El Enemigo Gran Enemigo 2020 from Mendoza, Argentina (retail value ~$130). Scoring 95 points, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. Tasting three vintages, I see great regularity in the blended Gran Enemigo. The 2020 Gran Enemigo was produced with 50% Malbec, 25% Cabernet Franc, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot from Gualtallary, going back to the usual blend. The wine shows exceptionally well, as some wines can show a bit ripe and sometimes fatigued in this warmer year, but this is fresh and lively, expressive and with a solid palate with restraint and balance and no excess. The texture is velvety from very fine tannins, and there's juicy fruit with no concession for sweetness. It has similar parameters to the other vintages I tasted next to it, with 13.5% alcohol and a pH of 3.4. This is still very young. 24,000 bottles were filled in July 2021.
One (1) Bottle of Paul Hobbs Coombsville Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 from Napa Valley, California (retail value ~$120). Scoring 97 points, James Suckling. Excellent complexity of blackcurrant, lead pencil and oyster. Some redwood and bark. Full to medium body with wonderfully crafted tannins that run the length of the wine with so much subtle and complex character of graphite and fruit. Structured and classic. Bordeaux blend with cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, merlot and petit verdot.
One (1) Bottle of Grattamacco Bolgheri Superiore 2021 from Tuscany, Italy (retail value ~$120). Scoring96 points, Wine Spectator. Blueberry, black currant and pomegranate flavors are accented by oak spice, graphite and rosemary notes in this fresh, long red. Taut and vibrant, with terrific balance and a fine-grained band of tannins lining the finish.
