What may catch you is the warm red-rust path as melting snow cuts through the cool snow, with delicate vertical trees against a sky of turquoise, lavender, pink and gray and the quiet feeling of dusk in the woods. About the artist. Laura had begun painting early in her life and studied art at Brigham Young University. She became busy with her career as a military officer and an attorney, and mother to 4 children (triplets and another son 2 ½ years later). Laura is a board member with Utah Pet Partners and acting chair. Shortly before Covid, Laura took up painting again studying oil painting weekly with the artist David Price. Her paintings are inspired by Utah’s Desert and the American Southwest, featuring very large skies, simplified landforms, strong horizontal bands and striking color that evoke atmosphere more than literal local color.
