Integrating an espresso machine into a high school culinary arts class can significantly enhance students' learning experiences, particularly in developing barista skills and an entrepreneurial spirit. Students will gain practical, hands-on experience using a professional-grade espresso machine, learning the intricacies of coffee preparation, which not only build their technical skills but also boost their confidence in a culinary setting. Operating a café or coffee cart as part of their curriculum can teach students about entrepreneurship. They’ll learn how to market their drinks, manage finances, and handle customer service, providing valuable skills that extend beyond culinary arts. Selling their products to staff in the mornings or on school food truck days can also instill a sense of responsibility and accountability. The grant money will be used to purchase an espresso machine from Amazon, along with flavored syrups and creamers.
