I am seeking help to incorporate classroom dividers in our JISD self-contained early childhood special education classrooms. Our classrooms service pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students across the district with special needs. Having classroom dividers to incorporate well-defined workstations will make it easier for students to focus on each activity by reducing distractions and making transitions smoother. Having familiar and consistent areas within the classroom helps students feel safe and know what to expect, even students that struggle with language or social cues. Creating well defined classroom spaces can also reduce sensory input, and it can provide students with areas to decompress, and self-regulate when needed. This structure will help each child feel more comfortable and ready to learn.
