New Life Church in Wilsonville is raising funds for a building remodel. In 1977, Faith Baptist Church purchased property on Boeckman Road and prayed that God would provide a building for their congregation. Shortly thereafter, a group of volunteers called Craftsmen for Christ built the sanctuary building. It was an example of God providing for his church. Classroom buildings and fellowship space were added in the early 1980s to provide for the growing needs of the congregation. They were sufficient for the ministries of the church for some time.
In 2009, New Life Church began planting a church with the goal of creating a place where the hope of Jesus is made known and the Wilsonville community is blessed. Through the years, various community-focused ministries have been put on by the people of the church. Wilsonville Swap and Play sought to serve the needs of mothers of young children by providing a space for mothers to network, let their children play, and swap baby clothes and gear. Sports Camp provided a free summer camp for learning sports, having fun, and learning about the love of Jesus. Foster Parents’ Night Out offers a safe place for children in the foster system to have an evening of fun while foster parents get an evening respite.
In a desire to be generous and maximize their use, New Life Church buildings have been used to host schools, home school co-ops, art groups, music recitals, HOA meetings, counseling sessions, Spanish conversation groups, as well as English, Hispanic, and Korean congregations without a building of their own.
In 2009, Victory Academy, a school designed for children on the Autism spectrum, began and operated until 2015 when they outgrew the available space and were able to move to a property of their own just west of Wilsonville. Most recently, Clackamas County Children’s Commission began to use several classrooms for their Head Start preschool program. They continue to operate in the service of families in need in Clackamas County.
Today, the tired church buildings need a remodel. Wilsonville is no longer a sleepy farm community, nor just a quick stop on I-5, as it was years ago when the church was built. It has changed to become a quickly growing suburb. These buildings are ready for change, too. There are rusty water pipes, an aging roof, and volunteer-built buildings that have seen hard use. It’s time to make functional spaces more comfortable, to update the exterior to better match the community that surrounds it, and to reconfigure spaces to better serve the groups that convene within its walls.
Would you help us achieve our goals?
Some of the Projects:
• Replace rusty water pipes throughout the campus.
• Relocate the kitchen from the sanctuary building to the fellowship hall.
• Re-roof buildings 1 and 2.
• Build an atrium with new entrances between Buildings 1 and 2 to improve the flow of the campus.
• Build a sound booth in the sanctuary.
• Remodel restrooms in buildings 1 and 2.
• Re-side buildings 1 and 2.
• Remodel the interior of the sanctuary to improve the appearance and acoustics.
